Supreme x The Clash

Supreme NY has just announced a collaboration with The Clash, available in store and online April 15.  Here's an excerpt from Andre Torres "The Soul of Punk", explaining the connection Supreme has with these musicians and the culture.

Mixing punk with reggae, dub, ska, early hip-hop and the sound of downtown New York's dance and punk-funk scenes, The Clash were able to run through a myriad of sounds that would lay the foundation for much of modern underground music in the next several decades. It wasn't that they were just covering Lee Scratch Perry tracks in a punk style or trying to bite old school MCs, they were internalizing reggae, dub, hip-hop and beyond, then coming with their own fresh take to create a whole new sound entirely. So many of their genre-bending experiments became the blueprint for whole musical movements that are still popular today, whether it's Bad Brains' reggae-informed hardcore or U2's punk brand of arena rock. The Clash put the soul in punk, infusing the music with a level of humanity that few bands achieve in any genre.

Supreme X Vans Spring Release

Oh, how I love Supreme New York. I have to admit that this has a lot to do with Supreme's reputation.  It's also because they release amazing clothing and are always on the collaboration tip, bringing me to tomorrow's collab release, teaming up with Vans to bring you a new Chukka.  If you're a Chukka kind of person, you will want to stock up on these because, I'm guessing, that dreaded "sold out" label will be posted a couple days after this shoe is released.

The Chukka features suede uppers with an awesome snakeskin trim that is sure to attract a rattler, so be careful where you tread.  Just remember, adrenaline is available from your local hospital, drug dealer or war vet living in the desert.  To complete the shoe, a leather insole will keep those feet snug and comfy.  You can grab a pair of these from Supreme's online shop or in NYC on 7.4.2010.

Feast your eyes on these:
